Using the backup plan

Image
After finishing the raw editing of the film, I had let the others in the group know that I was done with the raw sequence, letting them decide on what should be next in the to-do list. They were taking quite awhile to decide on what to do, having to need an extra day to think on what would be next on tweaking. Finally, after that long time, I and the rest of the group have decided that the sequence would have to follow the backup plan in order to create a better title sequence. The backup plan meant that more recording would need to be done and new scenes will have to be produced to better fit the title sequence. As much as I and some of the others didn't want to re-record, we all agreed on making up the scenes and meeting up. It would be awhile before we could all meetup and record the extra scenes, with school keeping most of us busy. Based on what I saw filmed in the rough draft, most of the beginning scenes would have to be make-up as well as some of the ending scene. Once we h

The editing fiasco

Finally, every scene has been finally produced and film, now all that's left to do is to edit and put them all together. I would be quite some time until I would continue to edit the rest of the sequence, but after resting for awhile, I finally started to work on the sequence again. The last time I worked on the editing of the sequence, I only edited the scenes that were produced with only me in the scenes/the scenes that were easy to film without the whole group. Now that all the scenes have been filmed however, I will now be able to finish this sequence up. I started by importing all the remaining scenes missing into the editor to put them all together. This actually took a long time to do due to the great amount of clips added to the editor, lasting about an hour. Once imported, I immediately started to place them chronologically, putting each clip in their specific spot of the sequence. Once that was done and set, I moved on to the beginning fighting scenes and added the spec

Finalizing the filming

It’s been awhile since I’ve done any modifications on the sequence with me being busy with school and all that. It’s been a long time since I’ve done any work so I decided to discuss with my group on what we should do next moving forward. I and the others knew that we would have to get at least one of these days to film together, so we made a plan and set a date to meet and film. After figuring out each person’s availability, I and the others decided on the upcoming Thursday to film together a major chunk of the scenes. Once Thursday arrived, we all met in an area of a plaza that had the perfect visual of an alley way for the sequence. To begin, I first had the idea of finishing up the beginning scenes that were missing due to just me being apart of the recording. Since Jibril was to be the enemy in this scene, he and Andy were going to be in the scene while I recorded them. The first scenes me and Jibril filmed were the meeting, in which his character would be discovered by mine. Th

This time were actually gonna film

Our group started filming on 2/26. The first part we filmed were scenes 1-4. The weather on 2/26 was good because it didn't rain which allowed us to use our main filming location instead of our backup plan. But on 2/27 it did rain when we were trying to film scenes 5-10. This made us have to go to our backup location. Our backup location is an abandoned house because it provides the same dark and menacing mood as a dark alleyway. After finishing the filming parts for scenes 1-10 we recorded the voiceovers for those scenes. Then on 3/5 we tried to film scenes 11-15 which included most of the action in our film. Since these scenes included more action we were only able to complete up until scene 14. The next day on 3/13 it was drizzling outside but instead of going to our backup location we waited because it was just a slight bit of rain. The rain eventually went away and we continued and finished filming scenes 15-20. On the next day we worked on the voiceovers for scenes 11-20 and

Music is hard to get

Image
Around 2 months ago when we started the project our teachers instructed us to get royalties for a song we wanted to use. The other option was to use royalty free music in our project. We each sent out a message to music companies for permission to use a song. I sent a message The Universal Music Publishing Group to use the Once by Pearl Jam. Andy sent out a message to Courtney Love, the wife of the famous Kurt Cobain. I knew from the start it was preposterous to contact her because she never even lets movie companies, video game companies, etc use Nirvanas songs. Still, Andy sent out a message for royalty rights to Something In The Way. Finally, Jibril sent out an email to Hipgnosis Songs to ask for royalty rights to Metallica’s song for whom the bell tolls. Now, 2 months later, and all of us got no response from these music companies on wether we can use the royalties. I went on a hunt for good songs that are royalty free and I found around 5 good songs, all under the Creative Commo

Our first day “filming”

Image
Today is our first day “filming” the title sequence. We call it filming but really we didn’t get a single piece of film. Me, Andy, and Jibril went to all the locations that we planned to film in so we could check them out. Firstly, we went to andy complex, it’s right next to Oakland park so we walked there next. Both locations were great spots for our filming so we went to the next one. We then went to the local gas station and alley way, we also went by the gym just in case. Everything was going according to plan, and all the locations were great for filming. Secondly, we chose the roles of the characters. We knew Andy was going to be the protagonist so we decided between me and Jibril and jibril said he wanted to film. Now, I’m the main antagonist. We agreed that we would all play the part of mafia members (with masks) and some of our friends said they would help us too. Overall, we think we’re good with the filming aspect. Lastly, we chose what editing software to use. Andy recomme

No, he’s the type of guy to go all out in force the earliest he could.   Scene 20   An overnight transition to the next day   Non diegetic sound: foot steps of the protagonist from his movement   Protagonist: new day huh? I guess I could rub some time off by walking.   Protag’s friend: Hey ‘Andy’!
