 Movie Name: Shazam


1. How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones?


The Shazam opening starts with who its directed by and then it gives credit to the screenplay maker. Next it tells who the story is by. Then it lists the producer and the executive producers. The it says its based on characters from the DC universe. Lastly the director of photography and the production designer are listed.


2. What connotations do the images carry?


The images in the shazam opening contain many action packed scenes which create a fast paced tone. Shazam's primary purpose is to protect the city since he is a superhero. By showing him stopping the robbers from robbing the bank it connotates the superhero vibe. The opening also shows people lining up to meet him after he arrests the robbers which also contributes to the superhero vibe. These opening images correlate to the primary purpose which is to create an action packed feeling.


3. How is the genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset?'


The genre is reinforced through symbolic and technical codes because the opening sequence of the film shazam contains a lot of action. Starting off two people are robbing a store and shazam walks in and one of the people transforms into a wolf and the other ones gun grows bigger and he points it at shazam. The robber then shoots the gun and it hits shazam and a huge explosion happened but shazam was perfectly fine and he smiled. Then he picked up the robbers and kicked them out of a window. It can be told that shazam contains an action genre because the things that occurred in the opening sequence were fast paced and contained affray. 


4. What conventions are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?


The opening starts off with a high angle shot looking down on shazam as he stand in front of two people robbing a store. The high angle shot makes shazam look vulnerable and less powerful. Then shazam picks up the robbers and kicks them out of the window and a low angle shot looking up at him is used. The low angle shot makes shazam seem grand and threatening. These shots appeal to the audience because the audience is most likely people that like superhero's and they love when they save the day.

Today's the day of the major pool scene. Me and my friends got together at school and went to my car. We stopped by dominoes to pick up some pizza because we were absolutely starving. Write a script for your short film. This should include dialogue, action, and descriptions of the setting and characters. Gather a team of people to help bring your short film to life. This may include actors, a director, a cinematographer, and other crew members. Create a shot list and storyboard for your short film. This will help you visualize each scene and plan out the camera angles and movements. Set up a schedule for filming and rehearse with your cast and crew. Make sure everyone knows their roles and is prepared for the shoot. Choose locations for filming that are suitable for your script and storyboard. Finalizing the filming

  It’s been awhile since I’ve done any modifications on the sequence with me being busy with school and all that. It’s been a long time since I’ve done any work so I decided to discuss with my group on what we should do next moving forward. I and the others knew that we would have to get at least one of these days to film together, so we made a plan and set a date to meet and film. After figuring out each person’s availability, I and the others decided on the upcoming Thursday to film together a major chunk of the scenes. Once Thursday arrived, we all met in an area of a plaza that had the perfect visual of an alley way for the sequence. To begin, I first had the idea of finishing up the beginning scenes that were missing due to just me being apart of the recording.
